Other Snippets

The Royal Bromfield and Harefield NHS trust has produced an 18 booklet for staff on how to dress. It seems some of the hospital administrators have too much time on their hands, or maybe they are overstaffed in that department.

Michelle Heaton former member of Liberty X has had to give up on her binge drink experiment as the ill health effects were too dangerous for her to continue. This should be given greater publicity. apparently she got skin problems, lethargy, stomach pains, liver damage, mood swings, all in three weeks. What sort of nation will we have in a few years. Its a good job the Government introduced 24 hour drinking to help the nations health.

Rail fares are going up by upto 15% in places. That will really encourage people to get out of cars and use the train. If the train companies want to make more money then put more coaches on the busy trains.

I see the New Years honours list is full of over paid self important people, especially the OBE's and above. I like Michael Parkinson, but lets face it he has been very well paid for what he does, yet he gets a Knighthood. My wife as an example as a Paramedic is working shifts, out in all weathers, dealing with badly injured people, drunks, drug addicts, gets abused on a regular basis, for a little pay, but people like her never get near the honours board. Something is wrong somewhere.

Finally this will be last blog post of 2007, so a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you all

Disaster In sri lanka and other things

Well the Test match has descended to farcical proportions. Sri Lanka somehow scorded 499 and their captain scored over 200. England in reply struggled to 81 all out. That was mainly due to a partnership between Ryan Sidebottom and Paul Collingwood. I feel sorry for the fans who have travelled all that way to see England capitulate like that.

In football Sol Campbell of Portsmouth, has been complaining about abuse from the fans. He has even suggested the Government intervene as it is against his human rights. What a load of poppycock. He earns alot of money for his job, and is high profile. How about the abuse the referees get from the players, and the foul language of the players. My wife Jill, the paramedic gets alot of abuse verbal and sometimes physical when she is trying to help people. Campbell ought to join the real world, and be thankful he does what he does. The players and the game ought to get its own house in order first.

More News and Views

Well , my last day off, back to work tomorrow for 2 days.

I see there is abit of a furore over single manned fast response ambulances today. These are purely a way of meeting times. Alot of these fast responders are technicians, not paramedics, and some of the emergencies they get to, they are not trained to deal with, so a two man ambulance has to be called. Also the fast responders do not have faciliteis to transport patients to hospital, so a two man ambulance will have to attend, as well. Again this defeats the object of the exercise. There is also the aspect of safety for the single manned vehicle. Sometimes an innocuous incident may not be all that it seems. One person on their own is vulnerable. All this just so taht Ambulances Trusts can meet times. Its a bit like cooking the books, but wait, who is responsible for setting targets, THE GOVERNMENT.

Looks like Mr and Mrs Darwin will be having turkey care of Her Majesty over Christmas, a bit different to the sun kissed coast of Panama. You pays your money, you takes your chances.

The PM, or his representative is going to Portugal to sign the EU Treaty. Apparently, according to all the foreign heads of state and politicians, this is just the old Constitution, but called a treaty. According to HM Government it is a different document altogether. With the Governments ability to tell the truth, I will leave it to your imagination as to who is being sparse with the truth.

The Police are going to discuss asking for the ability to strike. It is a shame that a service with such a proud history has been reduced to this. it will be a sad day if the Police get the right to strike. I blame the Home Secretary and the Home Office for this. All to save a few bob.

Finally, the Test Match is heading towards a disaster, unless we can get alot of cheap wickets tomorrow. If Sri Lanka get a big lead, then we may go 2-0 down, unless the batters shine.

Sunday, 2 December 2007

Hi, Sunday morning, poor weather. Last night was thunder and lightning, with heavy rain.

Today listened to the Test Match, England v Sri Lanka from Kandy. England appeared to be going quite well until they lost a few wickets, now I don't expect they will get more than 250, unless one of the tailenders backs up Collingwood.

Quiet day at home as my wife Jill is working until 4pm. She is a paramedic.

I have read the Sunday paper, not much news in that today, except for the more revelations about financial backers of the labour party. It all seems a bit of mess. Some of the MP's want the public to sponsor the political parties, but I don't see why I as a taxpayer should fund some-one to get elected just so that they can be an MP, and then receive a fat salary, large expenses and all the perks that go with the job. If they want it that bad let them work for the privilege.
Thats my gripe of the day.
